Scope and Content Main Stand, Ibrox Stadium, Nos 100-70 Edmiston Drive, Glasgow Glasgow Rangers Football Club started in 1872 with two brothers, Peter and Moses McNeil, and two friends, Peter Campbell and William McBeath. who called the Club 'Argyle'. The Club moved to Ibrox in 1887 and the Main Stand, a listed building, dates from 1928. This shows the Main Stand from the south-east, with the entrance in the centre of the building which was built in 1928 by Archibald Leitch & Partners, architects and engineers. It has a tall, Renaissance-style, 25-bayed, red brick façade including giant pilasters through the first and second floors separating the windows which are set in round-headed recesses. Inside this stand there are wood and stained glass doors to the vestibule and a floor mosaic of the Club's badge. Two Doric columns and two pilasters with disc frieze capitals carry the landing. The stair has a wrought-iron and wooden banister and on the first floor there is a large corniced door to the Director's Room. Most rooms still retain their original wooden panelling and some original light fittings. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
