Scope and Content Aerial view of Ibrox Stadium, Nos 100-70 Edmiston Drive, Glasgow Glasgow Rangers Football Club started in 1872 with two brothers, Peter and Moses McNeil, and two friends, Peter Campbell and William McBeath. who called the Club 'Argyle'. The Club moved to Ibrox in 1887 and the Main Stand, a listed building, dates from 1928. This aerial view of Ibrox shows the Main Stand nearing completion during its reconstruction in 1992 by Gareth Hutchinson, architects, Edinburgh. This involved the creation of two upper decks seating 7,000 debenture holders, and 24 executive boxes each seating 20. Note the circular glass block end towers and the 141m clear-span roof girder. The record Ibrox attendance was 118,567 against Celtic, in a Scottish Division One match on 2 January 1939. The record victory for the Club was 14-2 over Blairgowrie in the Scottish Cup in 1934. The record defeat was 2-10 to Airdrie in 1886, and the record league scorer was Ally McCoist with 355 goals. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
