Scope and Content Warehouse, Nos 7-15 Constitution Street, Leith, Edinburgh This was a large block of warehouses on an L-plan at the north end of Constitution Street. It is beside the Leith terminus of the Edinburgh and Dalkeith Railway, opened in 1831 as a horse-worked line, and may have been built in association with that railway, perhaps as a grain store. This shows the frontage of the warehouse to Constitution Street from the south-west, with a small office block to the right. The Edinburgh and Dalkeith Railway terminus is at the far end of the warehouses. Note the three sets of hoist doors in the road frontage of the building. In 1937 this warehouse belonged to Wordie and Co, who were cartage contractors and warehousemen. The firm had been taken over by the Caledonian Railway, and had passed to the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1923. The warehouse has, since 1970, been demolished.
