Scope and Content Aerial view of Hibernian Football Club, Easter Road Stadium, Albion Road, Edinburgh Hibernian Football Club, popularly known as 'Hibs' or 'the Hi-bees', was first formed in 1875. It has occupied its present site at Easter Road for over a century. Hibs is a major club currently playing in the Scottish Premier League. It was one of the first in Scotland to have floodlighting and the first to install undersoil heating. This shows the Easter Road Stadium following completion of the new north (right) and south (left) stands in 1995. The architects were Percy Johnson-Marshall of Edinburgh. The floodlights above the east (bottom) and west (top) stands were also installed in 1995 to replace the original free-standing gantries built in 1954. Following the Taylor Report, which required clubs to create all-seated stadiums, Hibs considered moving to a new ground, including a greenfield site on the outskirts of Edinburgh. These plans were dropped in late 1994 and designs submitted for two new stands at Easter Road by Percy Johnson-Marshall, who had designed for other Scottish football clubs, including Celtic Football Club in Glasgow.
