Scope and Content St Johnstone Football Club, Muirton Park, Dunkeld Road, Perth, Perth & Kinross This shows the main stand just before the ground was vacated, with the floodlights which were first used for a friendly match against West Ham Football Club. A supermarket now stands on the site of Muirton Park. The frame of the supermarket is painted blue, rather than the company's standard green, in recognition of the former occupants of the site, who play in blue and white. St Johnstone Football Club was founded in 1884 by members of the St Johnstone Cricket Club at Recreation Park in Perth. Muirton Park was the club's home from 1925 until 1989, when they moved to a new all-seater stadium at McDiarmid Park, on the outskirts of the city. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
