Scope and Content Warehouses, Nos 7-25 Cochrane Street, Glasgow These buildings were part of a group built in the late 18th century, apparently as flatted warehouses. Behind the plain frontages there were octagonal or rectangular courtyards with cranes or hoists giving access to the upper floors. Many of these warehouses seem to have been occupied by textile firms. This shows the main block of these warehouses at 7-25 Cochrane Street, from the north west. The block nearest to the camera, No 25 has some ornamentation, but the others impress by their severity. They are faced with excellent hand-polished sandstone ashlar. These buildings have been demolished and replaced by modern office blocks. Another block, Nos 49-57 Cochrane Street, has been converted into part of the Italian Centre, only retaining the façades.
