Scope and Content Warehouse, Victoria Dock, Dundee Harbour, Dundee Victoria Dock and the adjacent Camperdown Dock were constructed in 1863-75 to serve Dundee's growing trade in jute, flax and general cargo. Both were equipped with single-storey transit sheds on their north quays, and Victoria Dock had in addition a five-storey warehouse at its north-east corner. This shows the five-storey warehouse from the north-east, with the transit sheds to the right. It has a clock tower at its west end. The corrugated-asbestos-clad feature on the east gable is a mid-20th century hoist. In the foreground is part of the harbour tramway, still in use in 1969. The Victoria and Camperdown docks had declined considerably in importance by 1969, and the Victoria Dock has since closed to commercial traffic. It now houses HMS 'Unicorn', a wooden warship of 1815. The warehouse and transit sheds still survive. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
