Scope and Content Hydepark Bakery, No 45 Hydepark Street, Glasgow This bakery was built from 1881 for Bilsland Brothers, bakers, to designs by Bruce & Hay, architects. The front block housed the firm's offices and stables and cart sheds, with 38 stalls, and behind it was a five-storey bakehouse with mechanised ovens. This shows the frontage from the north-west. The stables and cart sheds were in the nearest section, with the large doorway, and the bakehouse was ranged behind these buildings. The front buildings were faced with cream sandstone, and the bakehouse with red and white brick. A large new bakehouse and new stables were added in 1912 to the north of these buildings, and further large additions were made between the wars. All the older buildings have been demolished, but the inter-war building still survives. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
