Scope and Content Warehouse, Scotland's Close, Bo'ness, Falkirk This warehouse, which is dated 1779, was originally close to the harbour of Bo'ness, but became separated from it when the harbour was developed in about 1880 by the North British Railway. It was probably built as both dwelling houses and warehouse, and later became a warehouse only. This shows the building from the south-east, with the chimney stacks which suggest that it contained dwelling houses. The small windows on the top floor suggest that this was always a warehouse flat. There is an arched cart entry on the ground floor with the keystone dated 1779. This building was rehabilitated as a public library and flats in the 1970s to designs by Ian G Lindsay & Partners, with very little external alteration. The centre of Bo'ness, though very historic, was badly run down in the late 1960s, but has been to some extent revitalised since then. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
