Scope and Content Drawing Room, Craighuchty Terrace, Aberfoyle, Stirling This photograph of the drawing room of a house in Craighuchty Terrace was taken c.1890 by the photographer, Harry Bedford Lemere. The terrace, a row of six houses designed in an English Arts and Crafts style, is by the architect, James Miller. The room is decorated with a broad frieze of delightful cherubs who dance and play musical instruments. The white painted fireplace has an inset of simple glazed tiles, and small shelves for bric-a brac incorporated into the chimneypiece. The room, an example of Victorian clutter, has every surface (including the shelf above the picture rail) displaying photographs, ornaments and knick-knacks. It has no electric light, and is lit by candles (mantelshelf) and an oil lamp on the side table. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
