Scope and Content Cottage, the Royal Clyde Yacht Club (now the Royal Marine Hotel), Marine Parade, Hunter's Quay, Dunoon, Argyll & Bute The Royal Clyde Yacht Club, designed by Thomas Lennox Watson, was built in 1888-9 overlooking the pier at Hunter's Quay. The cottage, which stands in the gardens, was photographed in 1890 by the architectural photographer, Harry Bedford Lemere. This charming Tudor-style house, a miniature version of the yacht club, has half-timbered gables supported by slim columns, and leaded glass windows on the upper floor. A figure, possibly that of the caretaker, leans by the entrance steps (right). Harry Bedford Lemere (1864-1944) worked under commission for architects, photographing and recording their work shortly after it was completed. It was unusual to have any figures in his pictures due to the lengthy duration of the exposure required. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
