Scope and Content Royal Clyde Yacht Club (now the Royal Marine Hotel), Marine Parade, Hunter's Quay, Dunoon, Argyll & Bute The headquarters of the Royal Clyde Yacht Club were built in 1888-9 by the architect, Thomas Lennox Watson, overlooking the pier at Hunter's Quay. The architectural photographer, Harry Bedford Lemere, was commissioned to photograph the building in 1890. The building, which combines both clubhouse and hotel, is built with half-timbered gables and tall mullioned and transomed windows in the style of a Tudor hall. The first-floor balcony forms a sheltered colonnade on the terrace below. Thomas Lennox Watson (1850-1920) was a noted Glasgow architect whose brother, E L Watson, was a well-known naval architect who brought him commissions for a number of yacht interiors, including the 'Meteor' for the German Emperor.
