Scope and Content View from south-east of Nos 1-3 Bow Street, Stirling Bow Street, along with Baker Street and St John Street, were redeveloped during the 1950s and 1960s. New municipal housing was built which reflects the styles of Scots vernacular architecture, and the variety of housing found in Scottish towns. This shows flats with access via a common stair-tower, reached through the blue door (right). The building is constructed of coursed rubble with a slate roof and datestone over the door. The modern UPVC windows copy the look of traditional sash windows. These houses have been sensitively designed to blend into the style of existing housing, and to match the mood of the town's traditional architecture. The stonework is of high quality, and contains fine decorative details. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
