Scope and Content View from west of Brahan House, Perth Brahan House was built in 1898 by architects Bedford & Kitson. It was the home of Rufus Pullar, of Pullar's North British Dye Works and dry-cleaning fame, once Perth's principal employer. This large Arts and Crafts style house was demolished c.1969. This shows the main façade of the house. The charming half-timbered porch is beautifully decorated with carvings. The harled walls were originally painted white, and the variety of windows and gables adds interest to the façade. The Pullar family had a textile works in Perth as early as 1819, and later branched out into dry cleaning from 1851. Pullar's North British Dye Works helped supply the enormous demand for mourning wear after the death of Prince Albert in 1861. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
