Scope and Content Oblique view from south of West Pilton, Edinburgh West Pilton contains large areas of two- and three-storeyed blocks of City Council housing. The building styles include Swedish timber houses, angular long blocks of flats, tower blocks and maisonettes. This aerial view shows West Pilton Rise in the centre, the tower block of Northview Court above, and the large circle of West Pilton Circus to the top right. The angular blocks at the top of the photograph front onto West Granton Road. West Pilton Circus was originally the site of a reservoir which provided water for the Granton area. The 'circus' was redeveloped by Barratt in 1984, when the existing buildings were improved, and new housing built to fill the inner circle. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
