Scope and Content View from north-west of hall of No 13 Brandon Street, Edinburgh No 13 Brandon Street was built in 1822 to designs by architect Robert Brown. A remarkable Art Deco scheme of interior decoration was installed 1949-52 by architect Robert Charles Hutchinson. This photograph shows the hall with its curving wall and original doors and cornices. The wallpaper, hung so as to form panels, probably dates from c.1950. The Art Deco chrome and frosted-glass light fittings also date from the 1950s. This room was 'modernised' in the 1950s. The survival of this decorative scheme is unusual. The panelled doors have escaped alteration, and are original to the property. The curving door-frame on the right is equally notable.
