Scope and Content View from south-east of Dudhope House, Dudhope Terrace, Dundee Dudhope House was built between 1849 and 1850 to designs by the architect Charles Wilson (1810-63). The two-storeyed house is built in the style of a 17-century Scots mansion. A tower was drawn on the original plans, but it was never built. This photograph shows the conservatory, the carved pediments over the two windows in the crow stepped gables and the doorway with its pediment carved in the form of folded ribbons. Gun-loops feature on the bracketed parapet. This fine house was built for Richard Gardiner of Dudhope. It stands on the site of an 18th-century house, and reuses parts of this older structure. The house is built on the site of Dudhope Castle. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
