Scope and Content Callander Station, Station Road, Callander, Stirling The first station in Callander was opened in 1858 by the Dunblane, Doune & Callander Railway. It was replaced by this station when the first part of the Callander & Oban Railway was opened in 1870. It may well have been extended subsequently. This shows the station from the east. The main building of 1870 is on the left, on the north-bound platform. The building on the south-bound platform, to the right, is probably later, On the left is a bay platform formerly used for local trains to Dunblane or Stirling. The section of the Callander & Oban Railway between Callander and Crianlarich was closed in 1965, and quickly lifted. This station and the track to Dunblane were retained a little longer, but the track has been lifted and the station has gone completely. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
