Scope and Content Horse-tram depot, Nos 101-15 Admiral Street, Glasgow This depot was one of a series built for Glasgow Corporation Tramways Department for their takeover of the operation of the city's horse tramways in 1894. It was designed by W Clark, the department's engineer, and had stabling for horses and sheds for the cars. This shows the Seaward Street façade of the building from the south-east. The car sheds were entered from the Admiral Street frontage, parallel to this one. The stalls for the horses were on the first floor. On the right is the Kinning Park Sewage Pumping Station, opened in 1910. This building did not have enough headroom on the ground floor to accommodate electric tramcars when the system was electrified in 1901-2. It secured a new life as the Tramways Department tailoring department and clothing store. It was demolished in about 1970. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
