Scope and Content Kingsbarns Station, Fife This station was opened in 1883 by the Anstruther & St Andrews Railway to serve the small village of Kingsbarns. It was some distance from the village, like all the intermediate stations on the line. This shows the station building on the east-bound platform from an east-bound train. This building was slightly more elaborate than the other intermediate stations on the Anstruther & St Andrews line. Though the station had been closed since 1930 it was still in good order in 1965. The East of Fife Railway reached Kilconquhar in 1857, and the line was extended to Anstruther in 1863 by the Leven and East of Fife Railway. A link to St Andrews was finally completed in 1887. The whole of the East Neuk line (except the St Andrews branch from Leuchars) was closed in 1965. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
