Scope and Content Warehouse, Nos 37-55 McAlpine Street, Glasgow This building was constructed in 1905 for W Johnstone to designs by A Gardner, architect, and was similar in design to the same architect's warehouse of 1897-8 for W P Lowrie, nearby in Washington Street. This shows the warehouse from the south-east, in the context of what was, until the mid-1960s, a classic industrial street. The bulk of this large flat-roofed brick box has been very effectively disguised by clever detailing. Demolition of the buildings in this street began in 1966 as part of the comprehensive redevelopment of Anderston, and though this building survived longer than most it has now gone.
