Scope and Content Fort at Doune, Perth and Kinross The Roman fort at Doune is situated on Castle Hill, overlooking a crossing point on the River Teith. It was first discovered by aerial photography in 1983. The fort, only visible as a series of cropmarks from the air, stood in the area below the modern buildings. It was protected by three ditches. The fort is probably Flavian in date, and appears to have had only one period of occupation. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
