Scope and Content Killin Junction Station, Stirling The Callander & Oban Railway reached this point in 1870, and it was the terminus of the line for three years. It became a junction in 1886 with the opening of the Killin Railway. Between 1870 and 1886 the station here served the village of Killin. This shows the junction looking east. The main Callander & Oban Railway line to Callander is on the right, and the locomotive is on the loop leading to the Killin branch. The signal box controlled both the loop on the main line, and the junction with the branch. This section of the Callander & Oban, and the Killin branch, closed in 1965, and has since been lifted. The signal box was demolished, and the junction is now overgrown. The route of the former main line has now been converted into a cycleway by Sustrans. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
