Scope and Content Standing stones at Carnassarie, Argyll and Bute Situated about 130m north from a cairn at Carnassarie there are a pair of irregularly-shaped monoliths. Both stones are aligned north-south and are about 2.6m high. The purpose of standing stones remains uncertain. Some perhaps held religious or ceremonial significance, others possibly acted as territorial or route markers. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
