Scope and Content Horse Tram Depot, Nos 105-15 Admiral Street, Glasgow This was one of the depots built for horse trams, and the horses which hauled them, by Glasgow Corporation Tramways Department, in preparation for the Corporation's taking over the running of the street tramways in the Glasgow area. It was designed by W Clark, engineer, and opened in 1894. This shows the northernmost bay of the Seaward Street frontage of the depot from the east. It had stabling on the upper floor, with the trams on the ground floor. One of the doorways through which the trams entered the depot is under the steel lintel, and was blocked when the building was converted. The depot closed as such in 1901, when electric trams took over, but it remained in Tramways Department ownership. In 1968 it still housed the Department's clothing store. It has since been demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
