Scope and Content Goods Shed, Burntisland Harbour, Burntisland, Fife This goods shed was one of the largest and finest structures of its kind in Scotland. It was built in 1855, to designs by A & A Heiton, Perth, presumably for the Edinburgh, Perth & Dundee Railway. This shows the building from the south-west, with railway access through the doorway in the gable. Note the Classical treatment, and the ball finial. The building had lost its rail connection by 1967, and was used for general storage. It is very likely that this shed was used in connection with the train ferry to and from Granton, wagon loads of assorted goods having their contents distributed for onward transport to different places. The building was demolished in the 1990s. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
