It was a large works of its kind, with extensive timber storage at the rear. The firm previously had a works in Abercromby Street, Bridgeton. This shows the works from the south-west, with the open-sided timber store at the rear. It is a neat building, the chamfered corner being an unusual feature. The buildings in the background are part of Beardmore's Parkhead Forge. By 1967 this works was being used by the Fyfe Douglas Co Ltd for the manufacture of coffins and caskets. They were one of two major firms of coffin makers in the city, the other being Cormie & Co, of Drumoyne. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
