Scope and Content Kirkcudbright Railway Station, Kirkcudbright, Dumfries & Galloway This station was the terminus of the Kirkcudbrightshire Railway, a branch from the Portpatrick & Wigtownshire Railway, which opened in 1864. It had goods facilities, a passenger building with agent's house above, and a small locomotive shed. Latterly services to Kirkcudbright operated from Castle Douglas. This shows the end of the line after the track had been lifted, with the passenger building and single platform on the right, the goods shed on the left, and the locomotive shed at the end of the platform. This branch was closed in 1965, and the track was quickly lifted. The main station building survives, but the rest of the site has been redeveloped for housing. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
