Scope and Content Eagle Pottery, No 60 Boden Street, Glasgow This pottery was established in 1869 by Frederick Grosvenor, earthenware manufacturer. It was subsequently extended on several occasions. In 1893 the firm was described as 'stoneware, Rockingham ware, water filter and stone bottle manufacturer'. This shows the westernmost part of the main range, which extended along Bernard Street, and was built in several stages. To the right is part of the Dalmarnock Ironworks of Sir William Arrol & Co Ltd, structural engineers. Stoneware bottles and larger containers were widely used in the late 19th century by the brewing, distilling and soft drinks industries, as they were more robust than glass containers. Grosvenor was one of a number of Glasgow firms supplying these wares. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
