Scope and Content Port Dundas Distillery, Nos 76-80 North Canal Bank Street, Glasgow This was originally two distilleries, founded in 1811 and 1813, which amalgamated in the 1860s. The distillery made grain whisky in both pot and patent stills. It became part of The Distillers Co Ltd in 1877, and was rebuilt after a fire in 1903. This shows the frontage of the distillery to North Canal Bank Street, with offices and stores on the street, and the main production buildings behind. In the foreground is part of the 'Cut of Junction' between the Forth and Clyde and Monkland Canals. Port Dundas Distillery is still a grain whisky distillery, with two 'Coffey' stills, and is modified as new technology requires. This photograph shows the façade of the distillery in the process of being renovated. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
