Scope and Content Port Dundas Distillery, Nos 76-80 North Canal Bank Street, Glasgow This was originally two distilleries, founded in 1811 and 1813, which amalgamated in the 1860s. The distillery made grain whisky in both pot and patent stills. It became part of The Distillers Co Ltd in 1877, and was rebuilt after a fire in 1903. This shows a flat-roofed, five-storeyed warehouse on North Canal Bank Street, with the distillery office to the left. This warehouse probably dates from the post 1903 rebuilding. It was used for maturing stocks of grain whisky. Port Dundas Distillery is still in use as a grain whisky distillery, though much rebuilt. It was sited on the Forth and Clyde Canal, which it used for importing maize, for bringing in coal, and for cooling water. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
