Scope and Content Camlachie Distillery, No 130 Camlachie Street, Glasgow This distillery was founded in 1834 by Coventry & Belsland to make lowland malt whisky. Rebuilt and enlarged on several occasions between 1834 and 1914, the distillery was taken over by Bulloch Lade & Co in 1859. This shows the frontage to Camlachie Street from the north-east. The range on the left was probably built in 1863, and the warehouse on the right in 1903, the latter designed by R Ewan, architect. Note the thistle finial on the left-hand range. In 1920 Bulloch Lade & Co was bought by a consortium led by The Distillers Co Ltd, and production ended. The warehouses were however used for maturing whisky, distilled in other distilleries, until about 1980, after which they were demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
