Scope and Content Glasgow Oil & Chemical Works, No 130 Glenpark Street, Glasgow This works was established in 1883 by Hannay, Gourlie & Hinshelwood, chemical manufacturers and drysalters. It was a large complex, built up over a long time, and made a wide range of products. This shows the street frontage of part of the works from the north-west. These blocks were at the east end of the site, and appear to have been of late 19th-century date. Their purpose is unknown. By 1967 the works was known as the Glasgow Oil, Colour, Paint & Varnish Works, and was owned by Thomas Hinshelwood & Co Ltd. It specialised in supplying local authorities with paints and varnishes. It has since been demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
