Scope and Content Govan Tram Depot, Nos 29-35 Brand Street and Harvie Street, Glasgow This depot was built 1913-14 for Glasgow Corporation Tramways Department to cope with increasing traffic on its electrified system. It was designed by J Ferguson, engineer, and has steel roof trusses on cast-iron columns. This shows the entrance front of the car sheds, set in a courtyard behind the offices. The depot differed from its predecessors in having wide bays. Note the inset track surviving after the adaptation of the depot to a bus garage. This depot became redundant when the tram route it served closed in about 1960, and was then for many years used as a bus garage. In 2001 it still survived, but was empty.
