Scope and Content Copper works, No 143 Woodville Street, Glasgow This works was established in 1903 by Blair, Campbell & McLean, coppersmiths and engineers. This was the largest firm of coppersmiths in Glasgow, and made equipment for whisky and rum distillers, as well as for sugar mills and refineries. This shows the street frontage of the works, with the gatehouse on the right, and its two tall workshop blocks. The scale of the latter was unusual for a copper works. The offices were further down the street. This works replaced the Scotland Street Copper Works, which the firm had occupied for many years. They were not just coppersmiths, but made a wide range of machinery including sugar mills and steam engines. The firm was latterly known as Blairs Ltd. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
