Scope and Content Dalmarnock Bridge, Dalmarnock Road, Glasgow (Glasgow City council area) This bridge was built to replace an earlier stone structure, probably to accommodate horse-tram tracks. It is a steel girder structure, with outer ornamental cast-iron panels and parapets, and was designed by Crouch and Hogg, engineers, Glasgow. This view shows the bridge from the south west. The slender piers are faced with sandstone ashlar. Note the Gothic detailing of the outer panels and parapet, effective, if not in the spirit of the Gothic. This bridge is still in full use, and was overhauled in the earl 1990s. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
