Scope and Content Dalmarnock Tram Depot, 45 Ruby Street, Glasgow (Glasgow City council area) This tram depot was built by Glasgow Corporation Tramways Department in anticipation of the Corporation takeover of horse-tram services in the city in 1894, and was extended and adapted to accommodate electric trams from 1899. This view shows the main frontage from the south west. The depot appears to have been substantially rebuilt in 1899 and 1903 to cope with the greater height of electric tramcars, and this frontage probably dates from that time. The depot was badly damaged by fire in about 1960, hence the three cut-down bays in this view. The depot continued in use until the end of tram services in Glasgow in 1962. It was demolished in 1967.
