Scope and Content Artizan Machine Tool Works, No 206 Old Dumbarton Road, Glasgow Probably originally built as part of the adjacent Bishop Mills, this building was used from c.1882 by Campbell, Smart & Co, engineers, machine and toolmakers, who may have added the single-storeyed section to the west. This shows the works from the south-west with the Bishop Mills to the rear. The chimney on the corner of the building is an indication that the works was steam-powered. Little is known of Campbell, Smart & Co. By 1901 they had moved to Dobbies Loan, and this building was occupied by the Metallic Art Co, bronze founders and nameplate makers. These premises were demolished in the 1970s. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
