Scope and Content Scotstoun Flour Mills, Scotstounmill Road, Glasgow These large roller flour mills were built from 1877 for John White, miller, and his successors. They are on the site of medieval water-powered corn mills, modernised at various times, which were made obsolete by the introduction of roller milling. This shows the mills from the south. The castellated block in the centre was built in 1898 to designs by WF McGibbon. The chimney served Partick Sewage Pumping Station, and the railway bridge was on the Lanarkshire & Dumbartonshire Railway. Since 1967 the Scotstoun Mills have been extensively rebuilt, and most of the buildings in this view have gone. The mills are, however still making flour, and are the last grain mills in Glasgow.
