Scope and Content Partick Sewage Pumping Station, No 35 Dumbarton Road, Glasgow This station, originally steam powered, was built in 1904 to pump the contents of an intercepting sewer up to a level whence they could flow by gravity to a treatment plant at Dalmuir. The pumps were electrified c.1960. This shows the station from the east. The incoming sewage pipe is under the cover of the bridge in the foreground. The pump house is in the centre, with the boiler house and its chimney to the left. This pumping station is still in use, but the chimney has been demolished. The cover has also been removed from the pipe bridge. The high quality of the building is typical of municipal structures in Glasgow at the turn of the century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
