Scope and Content Regent Flour Mills, Bunhouse Road, Glasgow These mills were built on the site of the medieval Bunhouse Mill of the Incorporation of Bakers in Glasgow. The advent of roller milling of flour made the stone-grinding Bunhouse Mill obsolete, and it was destroyed by fire in 1886 and not rebuilt. This shows the Regent Mills in the centre. The left-hand range housed the granary, used for storing wheat in bags, and the right-hand block was the mill. It was heightened by the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society after 1905. The Regent Mills were designed by A Watt of Aberdeen for John Ure, miller and flour merchant. They were out of use by 1967, having been owned since 1905 by the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society, and have since been demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
