Scope and Content Workshop, No 328 Abercromby Street, Glasgow This workshop was built in 1896 for James Meighan & Son, blindmakers, to designs by A R Crawford, architect, as part of a major redevelopment of this part of the Calton in the 1880s and 1890s. This shows the workshop from the south-east, with a warehouse of 1888 on the left, and a model lodging house on the right. The blank upper part of the wall indicates that there was a top-lit attic. The enamelled iron sign between the first and second floors appears to have been installed when the building was new, and describes the firm as window blind and sunshade manufacturers. The concern was still in business in 1967. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
