Scope and Content Dalmarnock Tram Depot, No 45 Ruby Street, Glasgow This depot was established for horse trams in 1893 by Glasgow Corporation, prior to its taking over operation of the city's street tramways. It was greatly extended in 1899 and 1903 to house electric trams. This shows part of the frontage of the depot during demolition. Note that the roofs on the left have survived the demolition of the brick screen. The three intact bays at the far end may well have been part of the original 1893 depot. As one of the largest tram depots in Glasgow, this depot remained in operation until the closure of the tram system in 1962. A fire caused serious damage in the late 1950s, and it was demolished in 1967, as seen here. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
