Scope and Content Bishop Brig, Ceres, Fife (Fife council area) This is a small but unaltered single-span masonry arch bridge, hump-backed, and with a narrow 'carriageway'. suggesting that it was built for packhorse traffic. This view shows the bridge from the north west. Note that only the arch ring is constructed of dressed stone, the rest being built of small rubble. The arch is narrower than the abutments, a typical 17th century feature. This bridge has been by-passed for many years, and is now a footbridge. It is one of the best-preserved small 17th century bridges in Scotland. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
