Scope and Content Domestic Finishing Mill, Anchor Thread Works, Seedhill, Paisley, Renfrewshire Founded in 1812 by the brothers James and John Clark, these mills manufactured cotton thread. The sewing cotton trade expanded dramatically with the large-scale manufacture of sewing machines, and the Clarks prospered. This shows the Domestic Finishing Mill from the south-west. The Lonend entrance to the complex is on the right. The building was designed by W J Morley of Bradford, and has a full-height atrium. It was used for winding thread on spools for sale. This mill survived the demolition of most of the complex from the 1970s, and is to be converted into flats, retaining most of the original fireproof brick-arched internal construction.
