Scope and Content Taynuilt Station, Argyll (Argyll and Bute council area) This station was built by the Callander and Oban Railway, as a passing station, with the main building on the Oban-bound platform. It did not have a footbridge, passengers crossing the tracks on a level crossing. This view shows the shelter on the Glasgow-bound platform, which was constructed of wood on a brick base, to a pattern also found at Achnacloich, to the west. Note that the platform edge is made of mass concrete, an early use of this material. This railway is now controlled by radio signalling from a centre at Banavie on the West Highland Railway. The original buildings have gone, the main one destroyed by fire immediately prior to refurbishment. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
