Scope and Content Glengoyne Distillery, near Killearn, Stirlingshire (Stirling council area) This Highland Malt distillery was founded in 1833 by George Connell, as Burnfoot Distillery, and was sold in 1876 to Lang Bros. of Glasgow, who renamed it Glen Guin. It was known as Glengoyne from about 1905. This view shows the stillhouse as rebuilt in 1966-7 with three stills in place of the original two. The wash still is on the left, with the two spirit stills to the right. The parallel-sided still bodies of the spirit stills are typical of the mid 1960s. Glengoyne's owners, Lang Bros., became part of the Robertson and Baxter Group (owners of Highland Distilleries) in 1965. The distillery is now owned directly by the Edrington Group, who now own Robertson and Baxter. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
