Scope and Content Former Parkmore Distillery, Dufftown, Banffshire (Moray council area) This distillery was built in 1894 by the Parkmore Distillery Co, at the beginning of the 1890s whisky boom. It eventually passed to The Distiilers' Co Ltd, who closed it in 1931, but retained it as maltings, warehouses and stores. This view shows the remains of the distillery from the south east. The malt barns are on the right, with direct access to the barley loft, and two malting floors below. The pagoda-roofed kiln is in the centre, with the malt deposit to the left. The maltings closed in 1968, but the warehouses and stores continued in use until the 1980s. The distillery was sold to Highland Distilleries in 1988. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
