Scope and Content Edradour Distillery, near Pitlochry, Perthshire (Perth and Kinross council area) This distillery was founded in about 1837 by John McGlashan and Co, a partnership of local farmers. It passed through various hands before being acquired in 1933 by William Whitely and Co Ltd, a subsidiary of JG Turney and Sons of the USA. This view shows the hand pumps used to transfer the fermented wash from the washbacks to the wash charger, and the low wines from the low wines from the low wines receiver to the low wines charger. The stills are filled from the chargers. This was the last of the small farm distilleries in Scotland, and had been comparatively little altered since the 19th century, The distillery was bought by Pernod Ricard in 1982, and adapted to receive visitors.
