Scope and Content Tormore Distillery, Advie, Morayshire This distillery was built in 1958-60 by Long John Distillers Ltd, to designs by Sir Albert Richardson, with associated housing in a designed landscape, It was the first 'greenfield' distillery built in the 20th century. This view shows the distillery from the north east showing the main production building with the milling, mashing and fermenting at the left end and the stills at the right. The boiler-house with its concrete chimney is to the rear. The emphasis on external design is clear in this view. It is to the credit of successive owners that the original design concept has been so successfully conserved. The distillery is now owned by Allied Distillers. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
